The company behind the Cobra offers 12 exclusive examples to honor 120 years in business.
The Cobra might be most well-known for its role in propelling Shelby American, and its founder Carroll Shelby, into history. As AC Cars, the company that supplied Shelby with its legendary machines, celebrates its 120th(!) birthday, we can think of no better way to mark the occasion than a roll out of 12 special-edition Cobras.
These special-edition Cobras are part of AC’s Superblower lineup. The aptly named AC Anniversary Edition Superblower Cobra uses a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 that makes 580 hp—a small bump from the AC Ace’s 90-hp Bristol I6. The V8 feeds a six-speed manual transmission, which then shuttles power to the rear wheels. These special-edition cars also feature handcrafted interiors with luxe materials and all the creature comforts you’d expect from a Cobra…which is few.
Adding this Cobra to your collection could prove a challenge—and not only for its limited run. The folks at AC are slapping a $179,283 (or, £129,500 at the time of writing) sticker on the windshield of these Cobras. The good news, however, is you can still buy essentially the same car in its not-so-special-edition guise. The Superblower line of AC Cobras keeps the same performance but loses the limited-production pedigree.
